Bridge 73, near Hillmorton  Royal Oak pub It is now part of the Hungry Horse chain. The food was O.K. very large portions but the pub is a little tacky and mainly aimed at families with younger children so if you like a quiet pub don't eat before 8.30pm or give it a miss completely. November 2003 (CW)
Don't bother to visit the pub (a Hungry Horse) unless you're desperate July 2004 (MG)
Bridge 50, Newbold on Avon  Barley Mow  Typical mass produced food orientated pub attracting families. April 2004 (CA)
Bridge 50, Newbold on Avon  Boat Inn  Traditional pub, limited food, but good atmosphere - 3 real ales. April 2004 (CA)
Shopping & Facilities
Bridge 50, Newbold on Avon  "Spar" style shop and chippy  Just 2 minutes walk downhill from Barley Mow pub. April 2004 (CA)
Good & Bad Moorings
Bridge 50, Newbold on Avon  About 5 moorings on north side of Br 50 which are closest to facilities. Many moorings to south of bridge  Very handy for 2 pubs, local shop, water and bus to Rugby (Stagecoach South Midland Services 6 & 7 run every 30 minutes in daytime from shelter near the shops (tel:0870 608 2 608 for times). April 2004 (CA)
Stretton Stop Water These used to be good moorings, but the recent work on the towpath and canal bank (bank is now set at 45% and is composed of big lumps of rock) has resulted in it becoming hard to pull in to - it seems more trouble than it's worth. We couldn't get to the water point because of the BW mud skip that was moored there. April 2004 (CA)
Bridge 72, Hillmorton top lock Popular moorings It was very quiet apart from the trains which passed about every 10 mins (to be avoided if possible next time). April 2004 (CW)
